Feeding the hungry is a corporal work of mercy, and we take this work very seriously as food insecurity is rampant in our area. As a part of this work, St. James Church hosts a food pantry every Thursday from 3-5 p.m. Between both of our parishes, we have a team of volunteers who serve as a branch of St. Vincent de Paul Charities to stock and operate this pantry. Volunteers for this program should be helpful and kind, recognizing that they are working with individuals who are experiencing great hardship. Our volunteers work in rotating teams to staff the pantry, so the time commitment is only a few hours a month, but those few hours make a significant difference! If you're interested in helping work the pantry, please contact our office!
If you are in need of assistance yourself, you do not need to call ahead of time. Simply arrive at the food pantry on Thursdays from 3-5 p.m. and show proof of residence in Kenosha County. The volunteers will bring the food and other donated items out to you when you arrive.
